프리미어리그 9월 이달의 선수상 후보가 발표됐습니다. 프리미어리그 사무국은 방금 이달의 선수상 후보 7명을 발표했습니다. 그럼 어떤 선수들이 후보에 포함됐는지 일단 리스트부터 살펴보겠습니다. 

맨체스터 시티의 훌리안 알바레스, 웨스트햄 유나이티드의 제로드 보웬, 울버햄튼 원더러스의 페드로 네투, 리버풀의 모하메드 살라, 토트넘 홋스퍼의 손흥민, 뉴캐슬 유나이티드의 키어런 트리피어, 마지막은 아스톤 빌라의 올리 왓킨스입니다. 이렇게 9월 한 달 동안 최고의 활약을 펼친 총 7명의 선수들이 후보에 포함됐습니다.

다음은 모하메드 살라입니다. 4경기(253분)에서 3승 1패를 거뒀고, 2골 2도움 슈팅 10개를 보여줬습니다. 리버풀에서 가장 위협적인 선수입니다. EPL 사무국은 “리버풀의 승리 부적은 2골 2도움을 기록했고 4경기에서 동료들에게 11번의 기회를 제공했다”고 전했습니다. 

다음은 바로 손흥민 선수입니다. 4경기에서 255분을 뛰었고 3승 1무 그리고 6골 0도움 슈팅 9개 를 기록했습니다. 이번 달 가장 유력한 수상 후보입니다. 객관적으로 봐도 다른 선수들보다 손흥민 선수의 활약이 가장 눈에 띄었습니다. EPL 사무국은 “토트넘 주장은 9월에 중앙 공격수라는 새로운 역할에서 탁월한 활약을 펼쳤다. 그의 6골은 무패행진을 이어가는 데 도움이 됐고 1위 맨시티보다 단 1점을 뒤진 2위로 이번 달을 마감했다”고 전했습니다.

다음은 키어런 트리피어입니다. 4경기(270분)에서 3승 1패, 0골 4도움 2클린시트를 기록했습니다. EPL 사무국은 “뉴캐슬의 주장은 경기장 양쪽 끝에서 기여했다. 한 경기에서 3골 관여, 셰필드전 8-0 승리, 팀의 3연속 클린시트를 이끌었다”고 했습니다.

마지막은 올리 왓킨스입니다. 4경기(250분)에서 3승 1패를 기록했는데 4골 1도움 슈팅 8개를 보여줬습니다. 손흥민 선수 다음으로 가장 인상적인 활약을 한 선수입니다. EPL 사무국은 “빌라의 스트라이커는 좋은 모습으로 이번 달을 마무리했다. 첼시전 결승골과 브라이튼전 3골 1도움으로 6-1 대승을 이끌며 팀을 5위로 올렸다”고 했습니다.

손흥민 선수는 지금까지 이달의 선수상을 3번 받았습니다. 이번에 수상하게 된다면 통산 4번이 되는데 티에리 앙리, 브루노 페르난데스, 모하메드 살라, 앨런 시어러, 데니스 베르캄프, 프랭크 램파드, 폴 스콜스, 제이미 바디, 마커스 래시포드와 어깨를 나란히 하게 됩니다.

[Official] Son Heung-min’s angle! EPL September Player of the Month Award Candidates Announced

Candidates for the Premier League Player of the Month Award for September have been announced. The Premier League office has just announced the seven candidates for the Player of the Month award. So, let's first look at the list of players who were included as candidates.

Manchester City's Julian Alvarez, West Ham United's Jerrod Bowen, Wolverhampton Wanderers' Pedro Neto, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min, Newcastle United's Kieran Trippier and the last one is Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins. A total of 7 players who performed best during the month of September were included in the nominations.

Now, let’s take a closer look at these players’ stats. First, Julian Alvarez recorded 3 wins, 1 loss, 2 goals, 2 assists, and 12 shots in 4 games (270 minutes). The EP office said, “Alvarez was directly involved in four goals in September and showed his ability to create during the absence of Manchester City’s main midfielder.”

Next is Jerrod Bowen. Jarrod Bowen went 2-2 in 4 games (270 minutes), recording 3 goals, 0 assists, and 11 shots on goal. The EPL Secretariat said, “The West Ham winger continued his outstanding start to the season by scoring three goals in September and was nominated for the second consecutive month.”

Next is Pedro Neto. He had 1 win, 1 draw and 2 losses in 4 games (270 minutes), scoring 1 goal, 3 assists and 6 shots on goal. If you look at Wolverhampton matches, the most threatening player is Neto. The EPL Secretariat said, “He scored 3 goals in September, making it 4 goals this season, which is the joint-most goals in his Premier League. “Although he was not recognized as an assist, he played a big role in the own goal that gave Manchester City their first loss.”

Next is Mohamed Salah. He had 3 wins and 1 loss in 4 games (253 minutes), with 2 goals, 2 assists and 10 shots on goal. He is Liverpool's most dangerous player. “Liverpool’s winning talisman scored two goals and provided two assists and created 11 chances for his teammates in four games,” the EPL Secretariat said.

Next is Son Heung-min. He played 255 minutes in 4 games, recording 3 wins, 1 draw and 6 goals, 0 assists and 9 shots on goal. These are the most likely candidates for this month's award. Looking at it objectively, Son Heung-min's performance stood out the most compared to other players. The EPL Secretariat said, “The Tottenham captain performed exceptionally in his new role as a central striker in September. “His six goals helped us continue our unbeaten run and we ended the month in second place, just one point behind leaders Manchester City.”

Next is Kieran Trippier. He recorded 3 wins, 1 loss, 0 goals, 4 assists and 2 clean sheets in 4 games (270 minutes). The EPL Secretariat said: “The Newcastle captain contributed at both ends of the pitch. He was involved in three goals in one game, won 8-0 against Sheffield, and led the team to three consecutive clean sheets.”

The last one is Olly Watkins. In 4 games (250 minutes), he recorded 3 wins and 1 loss, scoring 4 goals and 1 assist with 8 shots. He is the player with the most impressive performance after Son Heung-min. The EPL Secretariat said, “The Villa striker finished the month in good form. “With the winning goal against Chelsea and 3 goals and 1 assist against Brighton, he led the team to a 6-1 win and raised the team to 5th place.”

Son Heung-min has received the Player of the Month award three times so far. If he wins the award this time, it will be his fourth time in total, putting him on par with Thierry Henry, Bruno Fernandes, Mohamed Salah, Alan Shearer, Dennis Bergkamp, Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes, Jamie Vardy, and Marcus Rashford.
