알 힐랄의 연봉 1조를 거부해? “음바페는 우승을 원한다”

킬리안 음바페와 파리 생제르맹의 갈등이 점점 격해지고 있습니다. 파리 생제르맹은 음바페가 레알 마드리드와 뒤에서 몰래 계약을 맺었고 그래서 계약 연장을 거부했다고 생각하고 있습니다. 여기서 상당한 배신감을 느끼고 있습니다. 당연히 음바페는 이는 사실이 아니라고 말했지만 이미 파리 생제르맹은 음바페의 배신을 확신하고 있습니다.

이런 상황에 음바페는 최근 사우디아라비아의 알 힐랄로부터 천문학적인 영입 제안을 받았습니다. 계약기간은 불과 1년인데 이적료로 3억 유로(약 4,260억 원)를 제안했고 연봉은 모든 상업적인 계약을 포함해 최대 7억 유로(약 9,870억 원)라고 합니다. 더군다나 알 힐랄은 음바페가 1년 뒤 자유계약으로 레알 마드리드로 떠나도록 허락할 예정이라고 합니다. 정말 이게 말이 되나 싶은 수준의 조건입니다.

눈 딱 감고 사우디로 가서 1년만 뛰게 되면 무려 1조를 벌게 됩니다. 이는 스포츠 선수 역사상 최대 규모의 계약이고 당연히 모든 스포츠 선수를 통틀어 가장 많은 돈을 벌게 됩니다. 대부분의 사람이라면 무조건 사우디에 갈 것 같은데 음바페는 아닌 것 같습니다. 이 조건도 이해가 안 되는데 이 조건을 거부하는 것도 참 이해할 수 없는 일입니다. 

참고로 음바페가 알 힐랄로 가게 되면 받게 되는 금액을 체감해 보겠습니다. 월급은 대략 830억, 주급 190억, 일당 27억, 시급 1억 2,000만 원, 분당 200만 원, 1초당 3만원입니다. 어떤 분들이 댓글로 길거리에 5만원이 떨어져 있어도 줍지 않을 것 같다고 말했는데 발견하고 줍는데 3초 정도가 걸린다고 가정하면 음바페는 이미 9만원을 벌었습니다. 그래도 줍긴 줍겠죠.

현지 언론에 따르면 음바페의 이적료 회수를 원하는 파리 생제르맹은 음바페의 알 힐랄 이적 제안에 빠르게 동의했는데 음바페가 사우디의 제안을 거절하며 이적은 진행되지 않고 있습니다. 일부 매체에서는 음바페의 가족들도 사우디 이적을 결정했고 이제 음바페의 결정을 기다리고 있다고 전했습니다. 아무튼 음바페는 사우디로 갈 생각이 없는 것으로 보입니다.

왜 음바페는 이렇게 말도 안 되는 조건의 계약을 거절하며 시즌 내내 벤치를 지킬 가능성이 높은 파리 생제르맹에 잔류하려는 걸까요.

글로벌 스포츠 매체 ‘ESPN’의 줄리앙 로렌스 기자는 “음바페는 사우디로 가고 싶어하지 않는다. 파리 생제르맹이 음바페에게 알 힐랄과 대화할 수 있는 권한을 주었을 때 음바페는 그들과 대화를 원치 않았다. 알 힐랄도 이를 잘 알고 있다. 음바페에게 돈은 중요하지 않다. 그는 가능한 모든 우승 트로피를 들고 싶어한다. 24세 음바페는 사우디를 원하지 않는다”고 말했습니다.

그럼 음바페는 이제 어떻게 되는 걸까요. 역시 음바페가 가장 원하는 팀은 레알 마드리드입니다. 문제는 계약만료까지 남은 1년입니다. 음바페는 시즌 내내 벤치를 지키더라도 파리 생제르맹에 잔류하겠다는 생각입니다. 그럼에도 첼시, 맨체스터 유나이티드, 토트넘 홋스퍼, 인터밀란, 바르셀로나 등 다양한 구단들이 음바페 영입에 관심을 나타내고 있습니다. 

하지만 음바페의 현재 연봉은 7,200만 유로(약 1,017억 원)입니다. 이를 감당할 수 있는 구단은 거의 없습니다. 음바페가 다른 구단으로 가려면 연봉을 삭감해야 합니다. 이런 상황에 음바페는 조만간 파리 생제르맹으로부터 충성 보너스로 8,000만 유로(약 1,130억 원)를 받게 됩니다. 지난해 6월 2년 재계약을 체결하면서 삽입한 옵션 때문입니다.
