사우디아라비아의 거침 없는 영입은 이적시장이 끝날 때까지 계속될 것 같습니다. 크리스티아누 호날두를 시작으로 카림 벤제마, 은골로 캉테, 리야드 마레즈, 네이마르 등 슈퍼스타들이 유럽을 떠나 사우디아라비아로 향했습니다. 사우디는 아직 멈출 생각이 없습니다. 최근에는 프리미어리그 최고의 스타 모하메드 살라가 사우디의 유혹을 받고 있습니다. 사우디가 살라까지 품에 안을 수 있을까요.
축구 매체 ‘골닷컴’은 “모하메드 살라는 사우디아라비아 구단 알 이티하드로부터 연봉 6,500만 파운드(약 1,080억 원) 상당의 3년 계약을 제안 받았다. 사우디아라비아의 소득에 세금이 부과되지 않는다는 걸 감안하면 주급은 125만 파운드(약 20억 8,500만 원)에 달한다. 보너스와 후원을 포함하면 크리스티아누 호날두보다 더 많은 돈을 벌 수도 있다”고 보도했습니다.
영국 언론 ‘더 선’의 단독 보도는 더욱 화려합니다. 이 매체는 “사우디는 리그의 대표 얼굴로 살라를 원하고 있다. 알 이티하드는 리버풀에 이적료 1억 5,000만 파운드(약 2,500억 원)를 제안했다. 살라의 기본급은 1억 파운드(약 1,670억 원)에 가깝고 가족을 위한 전용기, 무제한 비행기표, 사우디 관광 및 투자 홍보대사 등 5년 계약이 협상 중에 있다. 전체적으로 이 거래는 호날두의 연봉을 넘어설 것이다. 살라는 팀 지분을 소유할 수도 있다”고 전했습니다.
매체마다 금액이 조금씩 다른데 정말 어마어마한 조건인 것은 분명합니다. 살라는 리버풀과 2025년이면 계약이 만료됩니다. 살라와 리버풀 입장에서는 충분히 고민이 될만한 금액입니다. 살라는 1992년생으로 만 31살입니다. 적지 않은 나이인데 1억 5,000만 파운드의 이적료는 쉽게 얻을 수 없는 금액입니다.
살라 본인도 고민이 될 수 있습니다. 살라는 리버풀에 합류한 뒤 세계적인 선수로 성장했습니다. 이후 리버풀에서 모든 대회에서 우승을 차지했습니다. 프리미어리그, UEFA 챔피언스리그, FA컵, 리그컵, 커뮤니티 실드, 슈퍼컵, 클럽월드컵까지 그야말로 우승할 수 있는 대회에서는 모두 우승 트로피를 들었습니다. 이렇게 모든 걸 이룬 선수라면 동기부여가 다소 떨어질 수는 있습니다.
위르겐 클롭 감독은 당연히 살라의 이적을 반대하고 있습니다. 클롭 감독은 “제안이 오지 않았다. 살라는 리버풀 선수고 새로운 것은 없다. 정확하게 말하면 살라는 판매 대상이 아니다. 살라는 우리의 모든 일에 있어서 필수적인 존재였고 앞으로도 그를 것이다. 지금까지는 문제가 없고 제안에 굳이 답을 하자면 대답은 아니오다. 살라는 리버풀을 위해 100% 헌신하고 있다.”고 말했습니다. 리버풀에 살라가 없다고 생각하면 상당한 타격이 될 것 같습니다.
잉글랜드 프리미어리그의 여름 이적시장은 9월 1일에 마감합니다. 하지만 스카이 스포츠에 따르면 사우디 프로 리그는 9월 7일까지입니다. 20일까지라는 이야기도 있는데 7일까지라는 정보가 더 많았습니다. 일주일 정도 기간이 더 길어 이적시장이 끝날 때까지 어떤 슈퍼스타가 사우디로 갈지는 알 수 없습니다. 물론 이적시장이 끝난 뒤 프리미어리그 구단이 선수를 처분할 가능성은 낮지만 그래도 천문학적인 제안이라면 거절하기가 어려울 것 같습니다.
살라의 미래는 어떻게 될까요. 지금 분위기를 보면 살라 본인이 이적을 희망하면서 나서지 않는 한 리버풀을 떠날 가능성은 낮아 보입니다. 리버풀 생활에도 크게 만족하고 있는 것으로 보입니다. 그래도 사우디의 자본력이 새삼 대단하게 느껴집니다. 이적시장이 끝날 때까지 살라의 이적 사가는 한동안 계속 될 것으로 보입니다. 감사합니다.

He might make more money than Cristiano Ronaldo if you include bonuses and sponsorships,” it reported.
The exclusive report of the British media 'The Sun' is even more spectacular. The media said, “Saudi wants Salah as the face of the league. Al Ittihad has offered Liverpool a £150 million transfer fee. Salah's base salary is close to 100 million pounds (about 167 billion won), and a five-year contract is under negotiation, including a private plane for his family, unlimited plane tickets and a Saudi tourism and investment ambassador. Overall, the deal would exceed Ronaldo's salary. Salah said he might own a stake in the team.”
The amount is slightly different for each medium, but it is clear that it is a really huge condition. Salah's contract with Liverpool expires in 2025. It's an amount to be worried about in salah and Liverpool position. Sala was born in 1992 and is 31 years old. He's no small age, and a transfer fee of £150 million isn't easy to come by.
Salah herself can be troubled too. Since joining Liverpool, Salah has developed into a world-class player. He has since won all competitions with Liverpool. He has won trophies in virtually every competition he can win, from the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield, Super Cup and Club World Cup. Athletes who have achieved everything like this can be a little less motivated.
