베실바까지 갈 수 있다?! 사우디의 폭풍영입 중간정리

사우디아라비아가 최근 축구판에 새로운 돌풍을 이끌고 있습니다. 과거 중국 슈퍼리그에서 유럽의 주요 선수들을 영입했던 것 이상으로 세계 최고의 선수들을 영입하고 있습니다. 그래서 오늘은 지금까지 사우디아라비아에서 어떤 선수들을 영입했고 또 앞으로 어떤 선수들을 영입하려고 하는지 중간정리를 해보려 합니다. 사우디아라비아가 유럽과 함께 축구의 중심이 될 수 있을까요?

먼저 시작은 크리스티아누 호날두였습니다. 호날두는 맨체스터 유나이티드와 계약을 끝내고 모두의 예상과 달리 사우디의 알 나스르 이적을 선택했습니다. 호날두가 사우디에서 받는 연봉은 무려 2억 유로(약 2,700억 원)입니다. 호날두가 지금까지 엄청난 돈을 벌었지만 이렇게 짧은 시간에 이정도의 돈을 버는 건 처음입니다. 결국 호날두도 사우디 이적을 선택했습니다.

이후 수많은 선수들이 사우디 이적을 선택하고 있습니다. 역시 돈이 최고인 것 같습니다. 발롱도르를 수상한 레알 마드리드의 카림 벤제마도 사우디 진출을 결심했습니다. 벤제마는 사우디의 챔피언 알 이티하드의 유니폼을 입었습니다. 벤제마의 연봉은 1억 유로(약 1,420억 원)로 알려져 있습니다. 계약기간은 2년입니다.

끝이 아닙니다. 레스터 시티와 첼시에서 세계 최고의 미드필더로 활약한 은골로 캉테도 알 이티하드로 이적하며 벤제마의 동료가 됐습니다. 캉테는 4년 연봉 총액이 1억 유로(약 1,420억 원)로 알려졌습니다. 다른 선수들에 비해 적지만 그래도 1년 연봉이 2,500만 유로(약 360억 원)입니다. 결코 적지 않은 금액입니다.

알 이티하드는 과거 토트넘 홋스퍼에서 경질된 누누 산투 감독이 이끌고 있는 팀입니다. 사우디에서는 리그 우승도 차지하며 좋은 모습을 보여주고 있습니다. 토트넘에서 너무나 굴욕적으로 경질을 당했는데 사우디에서는 행복 축구를 펼치고 있습니다. 

그리고 황희찬 선수의 동료인 후벵 네베스도 사우디행을 결정했습니다. 네베스는 1997년생으로 만 26살입니다. 이제 전성기를 시작할 단계인데 사우디로 떠났습니다. 이제 사우디는 은퇴를 앞둔 선수들이 가는 리그가 아니라 최고의 시기를 보내고 있는 선수들이 가는 리그가 되고 있습니다. 네베스는 알 힐랄으로 이적했는데 이적료는 4,700만 파운드(약 780억 원)입니다.

여기에 더해 맨체스터 시티의 핵심 선수인 베르나르두 실바도 사우디 이적설에 휘말리고 있습니다. 당초 파리 생제르맹 이적이 유력한 것으로 보였으나 최근에는 분위기가 달려졌습니다. 마르카에 따르면 알 힐랄이 실바를 노리고 있는데 이적이 임박했고 마무리 작업에 들어갔다고 합니다. 유럽에서 정상급 선수인 실바가 사우디로 간다면 새로운 분위기가 생길 것 같습니다.

이외에도 리야드 마레즈는 알 아흘리, 칼리두 쿨리발리는 알 힐랄, 에두아르 멘디는 알 아흘리로 사우디 이적을 앞두고 있습니다. 사우디는 이 선수들 외에도 모하메드 살라, 손흥민, 로멜루 루카쿠, 로베르트 레반도프스키 등 유럽 최고의 선수들에게 관심을 나타내고 있습니다. 물론 유럽에서 도전 의지가 큰 선수들은 제안을 거부하고 있지만 이렇게 행동할 수 있다는 자본력이 참 대단합니다.
