‘돈보다 명예’ 사우디 제안을 거절한 축구스타 TOP7

최근 사우디아라비아가 엄청난 자본력으로 세계적인 축구 스타들을 영입하고 있습니다. 2022 카타르 월드컵이 끝난 후 크리스티아누 호날두를 영입한 것을 시작으로 이번 여름에는 본격적으로 유명 선수들을 영입하고 있습니다.

발롱도르를 수상한 카림 벤제마와 은골로 캉테가 알 이티하드로 이적했고, 칼리두 쿨리발리와 후벵 네베스는 알 힐랄 유니폼을 입었습니다. 첼시의 골키퍼였던 에두아르 멘디는 알 아흘리로 이적했고 리버풀과 계약이 만료된 호베르투 피르미누도 알 아흘리 이적을 앞두고 있습니다.

이외에도 다비드 데 헤아, 베르나르두 실바, 사디오 마네 등 유명 스타들이 사우디의 제안을 받고 있고 하킴 지예흐는 모든 합의를 마쳤으나 메디컬 테스트에서 탈락하며 이적에 실패하기도 했습니다. 엄청난 연봉은 많은 스타들을 유혹하고 있습니다.

그런데 이런 유혹에도 흔들리지 않는 사람들이 있습니다. 스페인 매체 ‘텔레문도’는 사우디 제안을 거절한 5명의 인물을 소개했습니다. 여기에 2명을 더해 총 7명의 리스트를 만들어 봤습니다. 그럼 어떤 스타들이 있는지 살펴보겠습니다.

먼저 리오넬 메시입니다. 알 힐랄은 메시에게 호날두의 2배인 연봉 5억 4,500만 달러(약 7,130억원)를 제안했습니다. 하지만 메시는 이를 거절하고 미국의 인터 마이애미로 이적했습니다. 데이비드 베컴이 공동 구단주로 있는 팀입니다. 여기서 메시는 연봉 6,000만 달러(약 785억 원)를 받고 있습니다. 비교적 적은 금액이지만 그래도 매일 약 2억 원씩 버는 엄청난 돈입니다.

다음은 손흥민 선수입니다. 알 이티하드는 손흥민 선수의 영입을 위해 이적료 6,000만 유로(약 840억 원), 연봉 3,000만 유로(약 420억 원)의 4년 계약을 준비했습니다. 하지만 손흥민 선수는 이를 거절했습니다. 손흥민 선수는 아직 프리미어리그에서 할일이 많이 남아 있다며 거절 의사를 밝혔습니다. 물론 다니엘 레비 회장이 이정도의 이적료를 수락할 가능성도 없어 보입니다. 

다음은 조세 무리뉴 감독입니다. 알 아흘리에서 3년 동안 총 9,600만 유로(약 1,380억 원)를 제안했지만 무리뉴 감독은 이를 거절하고 유럽 커리어를 이어갈 뜻을 밝혔습니다. 무리뉴 감독은 사우디보다는 AS로마에서 자신의 커리어를 이어가길 바라고 있습니다. 무리뉴 감독은 작년에는 컨퍼런스리그 우승, 올해는 유로파리그 준우승을 차지하며 여전히 건재한 모습을 보여주고 있습니다. 

다음은 마시밀리아노 알레그리 감독입니다. 알레그리 감독은 알 힐랄로부터 연봉 2,000만 유로(약 285억 원)의 제안을 받았습니다. 알 나스르도 알레그리 감독에게 관심을 가졌습니다. 하지만 알레그리 감독은 현재 연봉의 3배인 제안을 거부하고 유벤투스 잔류를 결정했습니다. 

다음은 발롱도르 수상자 루카 모드리치입니다. 모드리치는 사우디의 한 구단으로부터 3년 동안 연봉 총액 2억 3,800만 달러(약 3,100억 원)의 제안을 받았지만 이를 거절하고 레알 마드리드와 1년 재계약을 체결했습니다. 지금 상황을 보면 모드리치는 그 힘들다는 레알에서 은퇴하는 게 가능해 보입니다. 

다음은 로멜루 루카쿠입니다. 루카쿠는 알 힐랄의 제안을 받았습니다. 제안 받은 연봉은 무려 4,500만 파운드(약 750억 원)입니다. 그런데 루카쿠는 이런 제안을 계속 거절하고 있습니다. 바로 인터밀란에서 뛰기 위해서입니다. 참고로 루카쿠의 현재 소속팀은 첼시입니다. 루카쿠는 첼시를 떠나 인터밀란으로 가길 바라고 있습니다. 

마지막은 쿠보 다케후사입니다. 쿠보는 알 힐랄로부터 4년 총액 1억 6,000만 유로(약 2,300억 원)의 제안을 받았습니다. 연봉으로 따지면 4,000만 유로(약 570억 원)입니다. 엄청난 금액이지만 쿠보는 이를 거절했습니다. 그는 스페인 라리가에서 커리어를 이어가길 바라고 있습니다. 쿠보는 이번 시즌 라리가 35경기에서 9골 4도움을 기록하며 좋은 모습을 보여줬습니다.

참 대단한 선수들입니다. 저라면 바로 사우디로 갔을텐데 이들은 돈보다 명예와 도전을 선택했습니다. 사우디가 앞으로 어떤 선수들을 영입할지 궁금하네요. 감사합니다.

Ballon d'Or winners Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante have joined Al Ittihad, while Kalidou Koulibaly and Huben Neves have worn Al Hilal. Former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has moved to Al Ahly and Roberto Firmino, whose contract with Liverpool has expired, is set to move to Al Ahly.

In addition, famous stars such as David de Gea, Bernardo Silva, and Sadio Mane are receiving offers from Saudi Arabia, and Hakim Ziyech has completed all agreements, but failed to transfer as he was eliminated from the medical test. Huge salaries lure many stars.

However, there are people who are not swayed by this temptation. Spanish media 'Telemundo' introduced five people who rejected the Saudi offer. I made a list of 7 people by adding 2 people here. So, let's see who the stars are.

First is Lionel Messi. Al-Hilal offered Messi an annual salary of 545 million dollars (approximately 713 billion won), twice that of Ronaldo. However, Messi turned it down and moved to Inter Miami in the United States. The team is co-owned by David Beckham. Here, Messi is receiving an annual salary of 60 million dollars (approximately 78.5 billion won). It's a relatively small amount, but it's still a lot of money, about 200 million won every day.

Next is Son Heung-min. Al Ittihad has prepared a four-year contract with a transfer fee of 60 million euros (about 84 billion won) and an annual salary of 30 million euros (about 42 billion won) for the recruitment of Son Heung-min. However, Son Heung-min refused. Son Heung-min expressed his intention to refuse, saying that he still has a lot of work to do in the Premier League. Of course, it seems unlikely that Chairman Daniel Levy will accept this kind of transfer fee.

Next is Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku received an offer from Al-Hilal. The proposed annual salary is a whopping £45 million (approximately 75 billion won). But Lukaku keeps rejecting this offer. He is right there to play for Inter Milan. For reference, Lukaku's current club is Chelsea. Lukaku wants to leave Chelsea for Inter Milan.

The last is Takefusa Kubo. Kubo received an offer from Al-Hilal for a total of 160 million euros (approximately 230 billion won) over four years. In terms of annual salary, it is 40 million euros (approximately 57 billion won). It's a huge amount, but Kubo turned it down. He hopes to continue his career in Spanish La Liga. Kubo has been in good form this season, scoring 9 goals and 4 assists in 35 matches in La Liga.
