독일축구협회가 한지 플릭 감독의 경질을 전격 발표했습니다. 독일의 123년 축구 역사상 처음으로 감독 경질이 결정됐습니다. 그전에 10명의 감독들 중에서는 경질은 없었습니다. 다들 사임하거나 계약이 끝나거나 그러면서 독일 대표팀을 떠났는데 한지 플릭 감독은 독일축구협회로부터 경질을 당하는 굴욕을 당했습니다. 참고로 현재 한국 대표팀을 이끌고 있는 위르겐 클린스만 감독도 2006년 독일 대표팀에서 사임했습니다.
베른트 노이엔도르프 독일축구협회 회장은 “위원회는 다음과 같이 동의했다. 남자 대표팀의 최근 실망스러운 결과 이후 새로운 자극이 필요했다. 우리나라에서 열리는 유로 대회를 준비해 활력과 자신감이 필요하다. 개인적으로 내 임기 중 가장 어려운 결정 중 하나다. 난 한지 플릭 감독과 코치진을 높이 평가하기 때문이다. 하지만 독일의 성공이 최우선 과제다. 어쩔 수 없는 결정이다”라고 말했습니다. 개인적인 친분도 있었겠지만 냉철한 결정을 내린 이유가 참 멋지네요.
감독 대행을 맞게 된 루디 펠러 독일축구협회 이사는 “한지 플릭 감독은 카타르 월드컵 이후 팀을 긍정적인 방향으로 일으키기 위해 최선을 다했다. 유감스럽게도 오늘은 그걸 성공하지 못했다는 걸 인정해야 한다. 일본전에서 우리는 더 이상 앞으로 나아갈 수 없다는 걸 명확히 보여줬다. 어려운 순간이다. 난 한지 플릭 감독의 성공을 위해 독일축구협회에 합류했기 때문이다.”
“하지만 이제 우리는 책임 있게 행동을 해야 하고 내년 독일에서 열리는 유로 대회에서 우리 모두가 희망하는 야심찬 주최자 역할을 할 수 있도록 변화를 가져야 한다. 이것은 독일 팬들이 우리를 올바르게 기대할 수 있도록 하는 결정이다. 난 일시적으로 대표팀을 지휘한다. 가장 긴급한 건 한지 플릭 감독의 후임을 빨리 정하는 것이다”라고 말했습니다.
한지 플릭 감독은 지난 2021년 독일 대표팀에 부임했습니다. 바이에른 뮌헨에서 트레블을 달성하며 자신의 전성기를 보낸 시기였습니다. 이후 독일 대표팀에서 요하임 뢰브 감독의 후임으로 커리어를 시작했습니다. 하지만 카타르 월드컵에서 조별리그 탈락, 최근 5경기에서 1무 4패라는 초라한 성적으로 결국 경질됐습니다. 일본전 참패가 결국 경질로 이어졌습니다. 한지 플릭 감독은 독일 대표팀에서 25경기를 치렀고 12승 7무 6패를 기록했습니다.
이제 독일 대표팀은 어떤 감독을 후임으로 데려올까요. 자국에서 열리는 유로2024가 약 10개월 밖에 남지 않아 빨리 새 감독을 선임해야 합니다. 현재 율리안 나겔스만 전 바이에른 뮌헨 감독, 위르겐 클롭 현 리버풀 감독 등이 후보로 언급되고 있습니다. 클린스만 감독도 후보로 있다는 언론 보도가 있었는데 이건 재미로 보면 될 것 같습니다.
독일축구협회의 과감한 결정이 참 놀랍고 대단합니다. 우리 대표팀도 현재 상황이 좋지 않아 사우디아라비아전이 상당히 중요한데 그 경기에서도 만약에 승리를 하지 못할 경우 대한축구협회가 어떤 결정을 할지도 궁금하네요. 감사합니다.
[Official] Germany, shocked by crushing loss against Japan, fires first coach in 123 years

The German Football Association suddenly announced the dismissal of coach Hansi Flick. For the first time in Germany's 123-year football history, a decision has been made to sack a coach. Coach Hansi Flick was appointed to the German national team in 2021. He was at his peak when he won his treble at Bayern Munich. He later began his career with the German national team as a replacement for manager Joachim Löw. However, he was eventually dismissed after being eliminated from the group stage at the Qatar World Cup and with poor performance of 1 draw and 4 losses in the last 5 games. The crushing defeat against Japan ultimately led to his dismissal. Coach Hansi Flick played 25 games for the German national team, recording 12 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses.
Now, which coach will the German national team bring in as a replacement? There are only about 10 months left until Euro 2024, which will be held in their country, so they need to appoint a new coach quickly. Currently, former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann and current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp are being mentioned as candidates. There was a media report that Director Klinsmann was also a candidate, but I think this can be seen as a bit of fun.
